7’ long x 2’10” wide. Heavy wood with intricate carvings. Has been reupholstered with leather vinyl. Belonged to great grandmother of 60 y/o individual. Been in same family since original purchase. Uncertain if it’s a true original Pfieff piece. Not sure how to really tell since his pieces don’t typically have makers marks but the sofa has been in this family long enough to meet time criteria of “an original “. Has brass foot claws. One claw needs to be re-attached. The others in picture are wrapped. One leg needs re-attaching also but do have the piece.

Duncan Phyfe (Scottish American, 1770-1854) worked in New York City from the 1790s to the 1840s; there are certain stylistic elements such as the quality of the carving that is not as good, nor appears as old, as that which appeared on the furniture he made in his shops (sofas in this style typically date to the 1810s-1820s.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A Colonial Revival Classical style carved mahogany sofa
in the manner of Duncan Phyfe, late 19th Century (approximately 1870-1890)
The crest rail with scrolled carved ends, outscrolled arms with waterleaf and acanthus carving, on short outscrolling legs ending in brass casters. Upholstered in a beige vinyl leather with brass tack trim.
