Duncan Phyfe was a furniture-maker in New York City in the early 19th Century, when Classical furniture was in vogue; his furniture was copied so extensively that his name has become synonymous with furniture of the period, but Classical style is the more appropriate term and his name should not be used unless this was actually made by his company. In the manner of Duncan Phyfe, late 19th/early 20th Century
The straight crest with shaped sides over an upholstered back with brass trim, the outscrolled arms continuing to a straight bottom rail, all raised on winged paw feet.
35 1/2 inches overall height, overall length 80 1/2 inches, depth 22 1/2 inches
CONDITION: value assumes condition of upholstery is in good condition with no tears, stains or odors. Wear to wood can include minor nicks and scratches without devaluing settee.
