We had this Duncan Phyfe refurbished when we bought it in New Orleans in the early ‘70s. The fabric has faded so needs reupholstered but is otherwise in good condition.

Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A Classical style carved and upholstered mahogany sofa
In the manner of Duncan Phyfe, New York, late 19th /early 20th Century
With cylindrical bar crest with scrolled ends, the shaped back extending into rounded arms with scrolled foliate and acanthus carved facades, straight front rail continuing into downcurving saber legs with wheat-sheaf returns and terminating in brass cuffs.

CONDITION: faded and in need of new upholstery but otherwise appears to be sound
PROVENANCE: acquired in New Orleans in the 1970s
