Les pastels de Maurice-Quentin de la Tour du Musée Lécuyer à Saint-Quentin

Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a still life pastel of grapes, water melon, peaches and bananas on artist material cardboard, not signed. The supplier of the artist material won several medals for the quality of the material at world exhibitions in the years from 1855 to 1900. The pastel can therefore dated after 1900, possibly shortly after, the St. Louis or the Liège exhibitions are not listed ( while the material could have been used much later). Still lifes with exotic fruit from the colonies were popular around 1900. The estimate is based on similar pastels by lesser known artists sold at auction.
