Inherited from family. Was told it was from the early 1900s - Great Grandmother. Wool, was told it’s painted or vegetable dyed.

Hi Bret,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
This is a classic Bokhara rug and includes all the elements you'd expect to see: a bright red palette and multiple rows and columns of circular (sometimes oval) elements. These have traditionally been made in the Bukhara region of Uzbekistan, in Central Asia. Now, they are also made in other countries though yours is probably from Uzbekistan originally. The sheep's wool used to make this was dyed from plants rather than painted.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
An antique Bokkhara hand-loomed wool carpet
Central Asia, circa 1900
In characteristic red palette centering 5 rows of 13 medallions within medial borders, cream-colored selvedges.
8 by 12 1/2 feet
CONDITION: This rug appears to be in good condition; value assumes no stains, odors, tears, repairs or losses.
