Hi Vince,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
These are secular, not ecclesiastical. They are a pair of mid-to-late Nineteenth Century Neo-Gothic brass or gilt silver tazza or compotes, evident in the elaborate pointed arches, tracery, and finials on the bases. These stylistic elements mimic the architecture of medieval cathedrals, but the overall design and use suggest they were intended for ornamental display or serving small items (like bonbons or nuts) in a parlor, rather than for use in religious rites.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A pair of antique Neo-Gothic gilt bronze compotes or tazza
unattributed maker, English or European, mid/late 19th Century
Each surmounted by footed bowls on tall bases with arched traceries, trefoils and stylized fleur-de-lys, on pierced shaped bases.
Height: 8-1/4 inches; width: 4 inches; depth: 4 inches
CONDITION: These appear to be in good condition
PROVENANCE: Inherited
$ 2,000-3,000 for the pair*
