Angle sofa
Original owner
This is a vintage 20th century, pink or peach tone, corner sectional sofa or couch that was designed by Edward Wormley (1907 - 1995) for the Dunbar furniture company. Wormley was briefly a student at the Art Institute of Chicago and then he worked as an interior designer for the department store, Marshall Fields. In the 1930's he was hired by the President of Dunbar Furniture to modernize their lines; by 1944 he was fully tasked with transitioning Dunbar Furniture to being a Modern style company. From 1950 - 1955 Wormley was a featured creator in the Good Design Exhibitions which was put on as a collaboration with the MOMA (Museum of Modern Art) and Merchandise Mart which ranked him with top designers such as Eames, Bertoia and Nelson. Dunbar Furniture and Edward Wormley's association symbiotically elevated each in the lexicon of Modern American furniture design. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
