Dear Roxanne,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. Your rug is a Kilim rug and is hand woven in the flat weave method out of wool. It was made in the mid 20th century and appears to be in good condition. The repeating motif on your rug is that of an Akrep or Scorpion. This symbol was used as a talisman of sorts for protection from the creature. Since rugs of this type were customarily made by nomads, protection symbols are universal. Other symbols on your item include water and the Evil Eye. Based on recent price realizations for items similar to yours, a fair market estimate would be between 200 and 500 US dollars.
Best Regards,
Morgan
