Thank you for your appraisal inquiry with Mearto. The item presented appears to be a hand-colored engravings after a drawing by Dutch and Flemish artist Pieter Bruegel, The Elder (c. 1525 - 1569). The image was created as a print, engraved by Frans Huys (Netherlandish, 1522 - 1562) and titled "La Bastille." This plat was acquired and published by Edizioni Ponte Vecchio (Italian Publishing House, 1930 - 2012).
The estimate provided is based on recent auction estimates and results of this work and other comparable hand-color engraving from the edition published by Edizioni Ponte Vecchio during the mid-20th century. Good evening, Richard. "F.H. Bruegel" is no one associated with this print. The "FH" refers to Frans Huys. "Bruegel refers to Pieter Bruegel. Huys engraved the image after Bruegel.
Just wondering who the "F.H. Bruegel" is that is signed to the bottom left ?
