Hello Steve,
Thank you for your appraisal inquiry with Mearto. The item presented appears to be an print after Italian painter and printmaker Michele Marieschi (1710 - 1744). The image is known as "Canale Grande," which was plate 15 from the series titled "Magnificentiores Selectioresque Urbis Venetiarum Prospectus (Views of Venice)." The series was first published in 1741 and reprinted later a few times. The impression appears to be from one of the first four states. However, the sheet dimensions are two to four inches larger than the original impressions. Additionally, the sheet appears to be a woven sheet, rather than the original laid sheets, leading to the impressions that the print here may be a later printing, which is very common.
The estimate provided is based on recent auction estimates and results of this work as a later impression and other comparable engravings printed during the 19th and 20th century from the same series by Marieschi. The estimate is contingent on a full condition report and authenticity. Please note asking or dealer prices may vary. Thank you and please take care.
