I wasn’t sure what category to put this in, Measures 34 x 20, weighs 12.6 lbs. Not sure of the material Aluminum?

Dear Jonathan,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The presented object appears to be a jousting shield with measurements of 34 x 20 inches. This jousting shield was used for a medieval reenactment and was made in the second half of the 20th century.
This piece is in medium condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 10 to 50 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
Georg
Dear Jonathan,
Thank you for your email. The exact determination of material on the base of images is difficult. Aluminum feels softer and is much lighter than a steel sheet. I think Aluminium would be too soft and get immediately bent when used as a shield for jousting so this is more probably a steel sheet. You can test if this material is magnetic.
With kind regards,
Georg
Is it made of Aluminum?
