Female Nude Sculpture Leaning on Drapery realized in Italian White Carrara Marble Sculpture Measurements: 39"H x 19"D x 11.5"W or (99cm H x 40cmD x 35cmW) Approx 250-300 lbs Already professionally crated and ready for shipping
I am a professional painter and sculptor. This is my own work which I created entirely by hand in Italy between 2007- 2010 from a live model in clay which was then transferred to plaster from which the marble work was carved. (More about me, my history and the history of this piece on my website: www.julietbishop.com) It was recently accepted for exhibition and competition in the 2019 Figurativas Exhibition and Competition at the MEAMS Museum in Barcelona, Spain in June 2019 and is currently listed in the MEAMS 2019 Figurativas catalog. However I was not able to exhibit it as it could not be transported in time from London to Barcelona.
Dear Juliet,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The presented object appears to be a statue made out of Carrara marble with the measurements of 39"H x 19"D x 11.5"W. The sculpture depicts a standing nude woman reclining on a drapery shaped support. It was made by the artist Juliet C. Bishop between 2007-2010.
Artworks of this artist were not recently offered and sold on the international and national auction market. This means there is no market defined for this artist on the secondary auction market. Comparable statues the same size usually sell between 5.000 to 10.000 USD which is in no relation to the work and time which was invested.
This piece is in good condition and there are no serious damages visible.
An estimation for an auction would be between 5.000 to 10.000 USD.
This estimation is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
An artwork of such high potential value requires further authentication research. This estimate is provided on the condition of authenticity.
With kind regards,
Georg
Dear Juliet,
we can try to offer it online. Please follow these steps.
Thank you for your inquiry about consigning through Mearto. When you submitted your item to us for appraisal, did you select "yes" or "maybe" when you were asked if it was for sale? If so, your item automatically entered a database, which is accessed by a number of regional and international auction houses actively seeking new items for consignment. If there is any interest, they will contact you directly through our platform. You will receive an email notification if one of them makes an inquiry. If you selected "no" when asked if the item was for sale, you can change this so that your item enters the database. Just visit "my collection," select the item, then click the "edit item" button at the top of the page. On the resulting page, click "yes" or "maybe" to answer the question: "Are you looking to sell this item?" Good luck and if there's anything else I can do to help, please just let me know!
With kind regards,
Georg
Thank you George I followed your instructions but could not find that question on the 'resulting page'- so I think I already said yes, it IS on sale?
Could you just verify that for me please?
I very much appreciate your explanation on the how it all works and look forward to hearing about any inquiries through your site.
Now I just await reassurance that it has been put up for sale as I believe I answered 'yes' the first time around.
Kind regards
Juliet
Dear Juliet,
you are very welcome. This marvelous statue is on sale and I hope it finds a potential buyer.
With kind regards,
Georg
Thank you Georg for this appraisal-since the art work is mine and one of a kind must I still get an authentication before putting it up for auction? (I have not done this before so would just like to know the proper steps). Also, as is stated above, it is of high potential value and would understand if it would still need to be authenticated but is currently crated and in storage in London.
What to do?
