First Love set
Hi. This set was given to my Mom and Dad for their wedding in 1955. It is First Love by WM Rogers & Sons. I have the following: 1. Original Wooden Case, 2) 12 Knives, 3) 12 Dinner Forks, 4) 11 Desert Forks, 5) 11 Coffee Spoons, 6) 12 Soup Spoons, 7) 2 Salad Serving Spoons, 8) 2 Sauce Serving Spoons, 9) 1 Butter Knife, 10) 1 Sugar Spoon. It is a beautiful silverplated flatware set. Such vintage flatware sets are being offered at auction on a regular basis.
It is a lovely and very popular pattern from 1937 by Rogers. As far as I can count there are 64 pieces and the lovely wooden case. This type of flatware is very popular on the second hand market and the fact that it is (almost) complete for 12 people with the original case makes it more attractive. It appears to be in fairly good condition with normal signs of wear and use and without personal engravings. However when selling flatware the best prices are obtained for silver or sterlingsilver flatware, and this First Love set is silverplated. It goes without saying that the more valuable the material the higher the selling price.
Still I believe that this beautiful set will attract the attention of both collectors and dealers if it came up for auction.
The estimate provided is for a well-advertised specialised online silver auction, where I believe the flatware has the best chance of realising its fullest potential. However, there is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to the First Love flatware set. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.

Thank you for your comment. I always believe that silver and silverplate represents itself better if polished. Especially if you do it yourself so you do not spend money on getting it done.
As for selling - your item will be presented for several auction houses, but they tend only to be interested in items worth more than $1000. I would recommend eBay for these kinds of items because of the extended amount of buyers on the platform.
