This is my second of 3 flintlock pistols. I inherited them and have no other information

Dear Michael,
Thank you for your help and patience.
The presented object appears to be a Continental flintlock system muzzleloading pistol. This pistol was in military use because of the reduced decoration on the wooden and metal parts of this piece. Sadly an ongoing identification is not possible because proof stamps or hallmarks are not clearly readable. Regarding the design and the lock, this piece was made in the second third of the 18th century. The stock is made out of nut wood and the initial letters of the owner "J.C." are engraved on the brass fitting on the inside of the pistol grip. The initials' of the name could be interpreted as an argument for a French owner. The number 62 on the side could be an arsenal number or regiments number.
This piece is in medium condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 250 to 500 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
George
I have not been able to find anything other than what is in these pictures. There is a very light inscrption/design on the top of the barrel toward the lock and there number 62 on the side. Other than that i could find nothing.
