The frame is 18"x24" the painting is approx 12 1/2" x 18 1/2". The painting is from 1910 and is a watercolor. The glass in the frame is wavy..so frame seems old. My grandmother bought it at an estate sale in Washington State in late 1940's early 1950's. I remember this on her wall when I was a child.
My grandmother was an antique dealer in Calif. She specialized in art glass. She went to an Estate sale in Washington state because it advertised art glass. She found this painting in the basement of the home. Many of her fellow antique dealer friends always wanted to buy this but she never would sell it. After my Grandmother and Mother passed it is now mine. I have several antiques I am curious about. She said it was a primitive. I am unsure. So we can start with this painting.
Hi Jayne,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
While illustration art is one of the hottest markets in American Art, Nosworthy's auction sales are modest at best, with the record price for one of her works bringing just below $4,700 for one of her magazine covers, in 2019 (it was estimated at $800-1,200 at the time). The majority of her works sell below $1,000.
