signed by 1975 Buckeyes with Archie Griffin and Woody Hayes. Low air, in display case.
My father was a huge OSU fan and friends with Woody. He got this as a gift from the team when he lost his leg in a motorcycle accident.
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. Based on the photographs and description provided, the subject of this appraisal is a non-authenticated partial team signed Rawlings football autographed by members of the 1975 Ohio State Buckeyes, including head coach Woody Hayes and approximately 13 players on the team.
According to the current owner, the piece was acquired from her father, who was given the piece by Hayes after an injury. Hayes is documented to have given similar pieces as gifts, and based on a visual analysis of signatures present on the piece including signatures of Hayes, Archie Griffin, Craig Cassady, and Ray Griffin against known examples, the piece is presumed genuine.
Genuine Hayes autographs are difficult to find and do not come up at auction often, so recent price guidance from PSA on Hayes signatures form part of the basis of the appraisal, coupled with auction sales of similar pieces from teams of similar pedigree. Unfortunately, this piece has yellowed considerably over the years, and a handful of signatures are unidentifiable based on examination of photographs.
In consideration of the factors noted, a Fair Market Value (pre-auction estimate) of this piece would be estimated at $500 to $1,000.
