What does this mean?

Dear Nina,

What you have here is a bronze traveling inkwell made in China late 19th century. When a scholar or other was traveling they also want to calligraph and write things down. The traveling set for that contained also a inkwell. This is one of them. This one is lovely executed and clearly made for someone with a high rank in society. It is possible silver is used into the bronze parts. Not sure why the amulet is attached to it. I never saw that before..I believe when your inkwell came to auction it would fetch a price around the estimate.
