What does this mean?

Hello Alexis,

Thank you for your appraisal inquiry with Mearto. The item presented appears to be colored engraving after a painting by C. Agar and J. Maiden titled "The Bury Hunt." The print was engraved by Frederick Bromley (England; 1832-1870) and published by Joseph Zanetti and Ackermann and Company, London, 1840. Bromley was a third generation engraver from a larger family of printmakers in London. Ackermann and Company was a prolific publishing house that offered engravings, aquatints, and lithographs after well-known paintings. The publishing house employed several printers and engravers.

The estimate provided is based on recent auction estimates and results of this work and other comparable engravings produced by Bromley, and published by Ackermann and Company. Please note asking or dealer prices may vary. Thank you and please take care.
