pp but cannot read artist's signature. Japanese writing on the back of the painting as well (see pictures). Dimensions of frame (approx. 23.5 in wide x 24.5 in. tall). Dimensions of picture (approx 13.5 in. wide x 14.5 in tall)
My late father traveled a great deal in Japan during the early 1980's. Assume it was a gift or a purchase.
Hello again Scott,
Thank you for your appraisal inquiries with Mearto. The item presented appears to be a Japanese woodblock depicting a floral still life. Again, the print is marked "PP," meaning Printer's Proof. The print appears to be in the style of Ohno Bakufu (1888 - 1976). Additionally, the signature to the margin appears to read "ohno." However, this remains unconfirmed because the signature does not match other examples of the artist's signature. The estimate provided is based on recent auction estimates and results of comparable still life woodblock attributed to Ohno Bakufu. The estimate is contingent on a full condition report. Please note asking or dealer prices may vary. Thank you and please take care.
