Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. As you will know, there are lots of imitations in the style of Franz Kline flooding the market. This might be one of these. The painting was executed with a fast moving brush, possibly using ink. There is very little oil sifting through the paper. The signatures differ from accepted signatures (slanting), the receipt appears to have been tampered with. The date on the upper part has been tampered with, name and address of the gallery appear to be a photocopy, the number "8" on the date differs from the "8" used in the measurements. Therefore two different typewriters were used in one invoice, which makes no sense at all. There is NO invoice number. Fakes have no value by definition, but there are buyers around willing to pay a few hundred dollars nontheless. The authentication department might be able to have a second look, but I would reject it as not authentic.
