My parents have told me that this picture was given to them by Pierre Messmer in the 1960s when he was living in London. It's in great condition as pictured, given the age.

Dear Dean Howard,
Thank you for your appraisal submission. The work is a mid-century, impressionist style oil painting on canvas by an unknown artist. The composition depicts a street scene of figures walking along a canal. A male figure carrying books focuses the work at its center. There is an illegible signature to the lower right corner, possibly reading "June Hane." From the images provided, the work is in good condition with visible stretcher marks to the edges. Given its age we recommend a physical examination with UV light for a more comprehensive condition report. The work measures 62 x 77cm in frame.
Without an artistic attribution, the Fair Market Value of this painting is estimated based on sales trends of impressionist style paintings, street scenes, and mid-century works. Street scene paintings are common to the secondary market. Their values vary greatly based on quality and artistic attribution. Considering recent sales trends, we estimate the FMV of this work between $0 and $200.
Thank you again for your submission.
Kind regards,
Charlotte B.
