Hello, this item is a signed color photograph by Fritz Henle titled “Venice,” dated April 1982. The image captures a vividly saturated overhead view of gondolas—most likely during the Regata Storica or a ceremonial parade—emphasizing Henle’s ability to combine documentary photography with classical composition. The presence of the artist’s signature on both the mat and reverse, along with a personal dedication, confirms its authenticity as a collectible posthumous-period print. The gold-toned matting and square metallic frame, provided by a Pennsylvania framer, are typical of early 1980s presentation styles and suggest the piece has been well-preserved, despite noted discoloration in the mat’s corners.
Henle’s signed color photographs of European cities, while less commercially recognized than his Caribbean or fashion images, still hold significant value due to his artistic standing. Given the condition, date, subject matter (Venetian procession), and the personal dedication on the verso, the fair market value of this piece is approximately $500 to $800 USD.
