Description

Given to me by a neighbour who is now in a nursing home. She told me these have been passed down generation by generation in her family but is not sure of when this started happening. Not sure if the middle one has wear on its head.

What does this mean?

Hello,

Thank you for choosing Mearto for your online appraisal.

Based on the images and information you provided, this item is:

A set of early 20th century Fu, Lu & Shou sculptures, hand-painted. The set of Fu, Lu, and Shou figurines represents an embodiment of traditional Chinese cultural and spiritual values. These figurines, crafted with specific dimensions and likely made from materials such as porcelain, embody the symbolic trio of prosperity, status, and longevity in Chinese folklore.

Fu, Lu, and Shou, also known as the Three Stars, are revered deities in Taoism, symbolizing good fortune (Fu), prosperity (Lu), and longevity (Shou). Each figurine is designed to embody the respective qualities associated with these deities, often depicted with distinctive attributes. Fu is often represented holding a baby or a scroll, symbolizing blessings and knowledge. Lu is depicted with a gold ingot or a scepter, signifying prosperity and status. Shou typically carries a peach, the symbol of longevity and immortality.

Thank you for your reply.

I just had two follow up questions:

1. What would be a fair price to sell them for in Australian dollars?

2. Does the middle one have wear on its head or is that the design? I don't want potential buyers to complain about that.

Thanks.

Hello John:

1. I would suggest an asking price of 1500 AUD.
2. It does not have a wear on the head, as he is normally depicted without anything on the head.

Have a great day!
