Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a french tole peinte urn, made from thin sheets of metal, but torn where it has been welded together. These painted lacquer items where reinvented by Mottahedeh & Company. The company has been reproducing luxury antique and historic designs for over 80 years. This piece was most likely done in the first half of the 20th century when wages in France were still low. The damage is serious unfortunately and would be nearly impossible to weld, but a professional restorer might come up with a good idea. Similar items sell in the price range listed, "asking prices" in the trade might be much higher and vary.
