Hi Christina,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.

Can you elaborate a bit more on what the damage is? Is it structural (ie, to the furniture/case) or more mechanical and just affecting the radio and stereo?

Hi Christina,

The William Tell Woodworkers were an American furniture manufacturing company, most active in the mid-20th century, known for producing solid wood furniture, particularly in rustic and colonial revival styles. Their pieces are now considered vintage or collectible, especially by those interested in mid-century American craftsmanship.

While General Electric (GE) is the best-known company they worked with, it's very likely that William Tell Woodworkers also produced cabinetry for other electronics and appliance brands, though definitive records are scarce due to the nature of OEM (original equipment manufacturer) arrangements at the time.

In the 1940s–60s, it was common for skilled woodworking shops and furniture manufacturers to contract with multiple electronics brands, including RCA, Philco, Zenith, or Motorola, especially during the boom in home console units.

GE/William Tell Woodworkers cabinets - offered for sale without the instrumental elements - usually sell at auction for quite modest values - less than $200; this value increases a bit if the radio and stereo are both working. Because of the large-scale numbers made, one with partly-working features but is in otherwise good structural and cosmetic condition has a fair-market value of $300-500.

Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:

A vintage General Electric (GE) Solid State Stereo console unit, in a William Tell Woodworkers cabinet
late 1960s to early 1970s.
27 inches high by 42 inches long by 17-1/2 inches deep
