This Geraldine Girvan lithograph is in excellent condition. I do not see any flaws. It is marked on pencil #41/250 (47?) and is signed by the artist. It has vivid color and a floral still life theme.
Appr 26"w x 20"h -- hard to tell, given matting
Hi Sarah,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.

She pursued her education at Edinburgh University and trained at the Edinburgh College of Art, where she was mentored by notable artists including Elizabeth Blackadder and Alex Campbell. The influence of these mentors, along with the college's principal, Sir William Gillies, significantly shaped her artistic direction.

In addition to original artworks, Girvan's paintings have been reproduced as prints and featured on art cards, making her work accessible to a broader audience.

Hi Sarah,
Apologies for not seeing this sooner; yes, this would not be worth quite as much if the frame were removed - more in the $75-125 range if kept in the mat.
If you opt to remove it from the frame, please be aware that sometimes frames will glue (or affix similarly) prints and works on paper to mats and you run the risk of tearing it if you try to remove it from the mat (which would further diminish its value and desirability). I would suggest trying to keep it in the mat but not in the frame.
I hope that answers your question but let me know if it does not or if you have other questions.
Thanks again,
Delia
Got it, thanks! I think I will leave it intact / framed. 👍
One follow up question -- the frame on this piece makes it quite heavy and more complicated to ship.
I do not know if the frame is original or if it's important to the piece. Would pricing at auction be impacted if I were to remove the lithograph from the frame to make it lighter / easier to ship?
