A Gold-eye Death Mask from the Philippines. These eye mask and nose shield are collectively known as the Oton Death Mask from San Antonio, Iloilo, Panay Island. Made during the Age of Trade, estimated around the late 14th to early 15th century, it is a rare piece and was the first gold death mask to have been systematically recovered by archaeologists in the 1960s led by National Museum's Alfredo Evangelista with University of the Philippines at Diliman's anthropologist F. Landa Jocano. As a National Cultural Treasure, the Oton Death Mask is part of the National Museum's collection. It is presently on exhibition at the Musee du Quai Branly for its Philippines: Archipelago of Exchange.
