Gold Ore Example

Measurements: 4.5 in x 3.5; 2 lbs weight
An example of gold ore with finely disseminated gold.
Ore cannot have an absolute value like nugget examples as the gold density within the ore has yet to be processed and graded. A valuation can only be done after the gold ore is processed. Processing gold ore is laborious, requires special equipment, chemicals, and can cost a high labor fee.
To get a clearer idea of the potential value you can have the gold ore assayed with a regional office. Keep in mind that the final selling price may be less than the calculated melt value, as gold buyers and refineries have their own costs and profit margins. A typical fee would range from $30 to $300 USD.
If the assay office finds the gold ore to be an extremely high gold grade, you might be able to sell it to mineral specimen dealers at a premium. I suggest contacting a regional geology department with a regional university, university library, or natural history museum to learn more about the example's worth as an element example.
Without assayer documentation; I cannot give an accurate FMV assessment.
