Hi Wendy,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Moore and Campion was a well-known furniture-making company based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, active during the mid and late 19th century. The partnership between Joseph D. Campion and John Moore produced high-quality furniture pieces that became renowned for their craftsmanship and elegant designs.
Their work is celebrated for its stylistic influences, including elements of Rococo Revival and Gothic Revival, popular in the mid-1800s. They specialized in crafting ornate pieces, often using luxurious woods like mahogany and walnut, with intricate carvings and upholstery details. Moore and Campion catered to a wealthy clientele and were known to produce custom pieces for affluent households and public institutions.
Pieces from Moore and Campion are occasionally found in antique collections and auctions, and some pieces may even be held in museum collections dedicated to 19th-century American furniture.
When Moore & Campion pieces come to market, they can bring prices ranging from a few hundred dollars to several thousand, depending on the form and construction of the piece, and it's condition; I'm sorry to say that the veneer on the rail is peeling pretty badly, which will affect its value, now $600-900
