The ring is stamped 18k, looks in good condition . Purple stone, with gold leaves on what i'm guessing is white gold. The weight on my home kitchen scale is .2 oz. The ring box has printed on the inside Wood Abbott Co Jewelers, 135 Central St. Lowell. That is in Massachusetts.
All I know is that this ring was my great aunts. She loved jewelry. Her time was 1908-1977.
Dear Elaine,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
What a pretty dress ring! This is a wonderful example of early 20th century jewellery design. From the photographs provided, I believe central purple stone is an amethyst. It's a lovely rich purple and appears to be in wonderful condition. The pierced floral, bi-coloured surround is exquisite, (do I spy a swallow too?) - such fabulous attention to detail. Interesting early 20th century pieces, such as this ring, are always in demand at auction and are also offered at auction fairly regularly. From the images provided, this piece is in good condition and there is no damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation for a turn of the century 18k bi-colour gold dress ring would be between 300 - 400 GBP. This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail asking prices can be higher and may vary.
I believe this beautiful piece would easily achieve within the estimate provided, however, there is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to the pendant.
Do let me know if you have any additional questions. Many thanks!
Hello Elaine,
Not a problem at all! Thanks for the extra information. The ring size may effect the value ever so slightly, however, there is a little wiggle room in the back of the shank to go up a size or two.
Many thanks!
Thank you for the quick response . Sorry if forgot the size. The ring size is 5 1/2. My great Aunt was a tiny woman.
