Gold Ring purchased around the time of the great american gold rush in Alaska. Originally had a 1 carat diamond, a 3/4 carat was placed in it likely in 1960s. Pretty design with what looks like a B or similar look marking on inside of ring. I believe the gold is 18K
Potentially Alaska but could be domestic US or International location. Around the time of the great Alaskan Gold Rush
The carving on that shank is very beautiful and intricate, and I would agree with you, a ring like this would usually be modelled in a higher carat gold, therefore I would value this at 18k. A lot of the value will be in the colour and clarity of the diamond, which is ver hard to tell from the photographs so I have graded the stone at an average colour and clarity. If you did enter this into auction, it would be re-graded. It's a very lovely ring.
Thank you I agree, but value to me is higher. The original diamond was a full carat, separated during death in family. So this was a later addition. I was thinking of upgrading it to full carat again. What does the B or 8 mean on the back of the ring?
