Very old 200+ yr tapestry found in my cedar chest. No idea if it’s worth nothing or a lot.
Great great great grandpas (ancestor)
This is an American antique, mid 19th century, loomed wool jacquard coverlet blanket. Jacquard is produced on a special loom and with the aid of paper punch cards to create the complex, repetitive designs on each blanket. Generally, these were produced in the Pennsylvania, New York and Ohio regions. Usually there is a signature, origin and date woven in to a corner of the coverlet that names the maker and where they were residing and when the jacquard was completed. Some makers command higher sale prices. The estimate is based on actual past auction sales.
