Greek Fire Container 4th -6th Century with Certificate of Authenticity
This item was a gift from Yitzhak Rabin then given to my Stepfather by a German Official who was a friend. I'm not sure who it was.
Dear Bradford,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The presented object appears to be a Byzantine firebomb or hand grenade made out of terracotta. This piece was probably made around 1200 during the period of the Crusades.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 400 to 800 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
Georg
