Brooklyn Dodgers' Baseball cap, grey/blue, seems to be wool. Has Felt stitched "B", leather sweatband. Spalding stamp on sweatband.
Cap belonged to my husband's father who was born in 1932 in New York. He was a big Dodgers' fan and probably wore this in his late teens/early twenties.
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. Based on the photographs and description provided, the subject of this appraisal is a Brooklyn Dodgers baseball cap manufactured by Spalding, circa 1950s. The cap is in fair used condition and is blue, that has faded to gray on its exterior with a prominent white felt "B".
According to the current owner, the piece was acquired via inheritance. Caps of similar style do not come up for auction in traditional settings unless they are game-worn or autographed; thus the online auction market forms a basis for this appraisal for comparable sales.
In consideration of the factors noted, a Fair Market Value (pre-auction estimate) of this piece would be estimated at $75 to $100.
