I believe this is a Gucci GG Ophidia. It has a serial number under the tag inside the bag, and a Controlloto card inside. Tag is still on the bag, never used.
It was my good friend’s mother’s and he gave it to me after she passed away. She was our next door neighbor for many years.
Dear Lori,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. So that I may best assist you, can you please upload a few better images of the other side of the serial number label.
Thanks
Thank you for contacting Mearto and thank you for the additional photos.
After examining the photographs provided, we have concluded that the subject work is a counterfeit Gucci handbag. There are several incorrect essential elements detailed below that allowed specialists to establish this opinion.
The serial number should be 10-13 digits, and it should be a square tag. On the other side of the serial number tag Gucci should be either embossed or printed, there should not be gold hardware mounted. The Control card should also have included the name Gucci. The gold hardware on the side of the handbag should not have space been the interlocking G's. The finishing of the stictches and the clearity of the material is not quite up to the usual Gucci standard.
I am very sorry for this unfortunate information about your handbag. Auction houses that consign luxury items like Gucci handbags will only accept bags of the highest quality/condition, that can be fully authenticated through a physical examination, and by establishing a clear ownership or provenance chain. Therefore, there is no viable auction (secondary) market for counterfeit bags like the subject work.
However, there is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to the Gucci handbag.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions. I’m happy to help.
Thank you
