Hi Delia,
Any new information on this little piece.
Thanks,
Jad
Sorry, Jad, your messages only just came through. Is this a perfume bottle (which is what it looks like) or a pill box? It has a glass top with silver mount, then a silver (or silver plated) body.
I think it's a pillbox. I just took a picture of the perfume bottle because it's Guerlain. I think they are somehow linked brandwise?
Hi Delia,
I'm sorry about taking 2 pictures; the item I want to be appraised is the silver circular thing that I'm referring to as a pillbox. I saw that Guerlain - Paris France on the top and I, immediately, thought of the perfume that the same house makes because I happen to have it - not by design :-) That's the only reason I included a picture of the perfume of the bottle; to allude to a potential link?
In any case, I got that from a bank safe in Lebanon in 2011 which belonged to my late father. as I mentioned to you, but so it's in one message, the diameter and the height are 1.5 cm. The top is marked. I can see Guerlain Brevete Paris. It is hard to make the rest of the writing out; you very well could. I've attached another pic of the top in case it helps. There's a symbol in the middle; looks like the American eagle - but it's not :-)
Out of all the pieces that I've submitted to be appraised by you, this is the most interesting and curious. I certainly forward to your findings. I'm gonna guess that it's not worth much - if it's anything like the old foldable knife, etc. George appraised those really low. I might drop him a note with a few questions. In any case, I await your reply while I'm holding my breathe :-)
Thanks and Best Wishes,
Jad
Is it possible to see a photo of the box from a few different angles (sides, bottom?), to give me a sense of the object? The image of the lid is nicely clear but cropped so close it's hard to get a feel for this. Thanks!
Hi Delia,
I've uploaded a side view, an inside view, and the top again. I hope this helps.
Regards,
Jad
Hi Jad
the photos are great, thank you! I've not found any comparables to this - not quite sure if that makes it necessarily rare but certainly a nice little thing. I'd date this to the late 19th Century and worth in the range of $300-500 assuming it actually is silver and not just silver plate or another kind of metal alloy.
Will put a proper description above
Hi Delia!
Thanks Very Much! This exceeded my expectations! I wanted to ask you if you can sell these items for me. I'm currently living in Jordan, but I might be coming back to the states within the next 2 years. Please let me know if you can sell items that appraise with you and if we can execute the purchase from Jordan. I guess the only thing would be to ship the item to you. In this case, the object is small and easy to ship. Other things, like the Murano Vases, are heavy and might cost quite a bit to ship.
Thanks once again, Delia! Please let me know if I should direct my question to a particular email address.
Best Wishes,
Jad

Hi Delia,
Yes. The diameter and the height are 1.5 cm or so. The top is marked. I can see Guerlain Brevete Paris; that's why the perfume I have came to mind. It is hard to make the rest of the writing out. I've attached another pic of the top in case it helps. There's a symbol in the middle; looks like the American eagle - but it's not.
Best Regards,
Jad
