The condition is good. With my limited knowledge I believe it needs cleaning.

Hello MaryLynne,
Thank you very much for submitting your item for an appraisal and for your patience. As you may already know, this work was auctioned by Sotheby's in 2010: https://www.sothebys.com/en/auctions/ecatalogue/2010/impressionist-modern-art-evening-sale-l10002/lot.13.html and has quite an interesting backstory: https://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2010/jan/12/lost-klimt-joins-london-auction
With this history and a hammer price of over $33 million, the authenticity of such a work could be called into question. However, it is very likely that you have a copy after the original. With an appropriate attribution of "in the manner of" Gustav Klimt, you might be able to sell it for a few hundred dollars, but you would need to be very clear about this distinction to avoid any financial or legal repercussions. With the presence of a signature, is also possible that your painting was created with the intention to deceive and could be considered a forgery, which has no market value.
I would recommend that you get in touch with our authentication research department to discuss the services that we offer and options that would be available to you, should you wish to determine the authenticity of your artwork. You can learn more on our website www.authenticate-art.com or reach out to us by email at [email protected].
Thank you again for your submission and I hope that you have a lovely day!
Kind regards,
Anne
