Condition is great. Colors are vibrant. Signed by Casimir who I understand was a Haitian artist who lived from 1928-1990.
14”x21”
Dear Debra P.,
Thank you for your appraisal submission. The work is an oil painting on canvas by Laurent Casimir (Haitian, 1928 - 1990). It depicts a market scene with bustling crowds in which the figures are in a near abstract procession. The painting is signed to the lower right corner. It measures 14 x 21 inches. From the images provided, the work appears to be in Good condition with cracking to the lower right corner.
Laurent Casimir, also listed as Casimir Laurent, studied art at the Foyer des Artes Plastiques founded by modern artists. Amongst this group, and immersing himself in the Haitian modernist movements, Casimir originated depictions of the Haitian market scene. Casimir has a long secondary market record with sales as recent as a few weeks ago. Due to the constant availability of his works on the market, the values have continuously decreased. In the current market, we estimate the Fair Market Value of this work between $0 and $200.
Thank you for your appraisal submission.
Kind regards,
Charlotte B.
