An 8"x16' very old original oil on canvas signed by Hall (Henry Hall?) of an equestrian foxhunt type of scene depicting three horses with riders jumping over water in the country side. The painting is framed in an ornate 3" gold tone wooden frame.
The painting was purchased at a thrift store. Other than what I have described here, nothing else is know about the piece.
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a chinese production line painting of the 1990s, produced in the oil painting village Dafen (Shenzhen). The painter was inspired by an english 19th century lithograph or painting depicting a fox hunt scene. Such paintings were often sold on "antique" fairs in the 1990s, the blackened wood and brown varnish on the canvas are quite typical. This attempt to give the painting some "age" is misleading the potential buyer and you might therefore call it a fake. Such paintings usually sell in the 30 to 50 USD range if described correctly.
