Hello Julie,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Asprey, founded in 1781, specialized in luxury goods, including jewelry, silver, leather, and watches. Garrard & Co., established in 1735, was particularly famous for being the former Crown Jeweller to the British royal family, responsible for the maintenance and creation of royal regalia, including the British Crown Jewels.
Asprey & Garrard was formed in 1998 when Asprey and Garrard & Co., merged.
However, in 2002, the two brands separated, with Asprey continuing as an independent luxury brand, while Garrard rebranded as Garrard & Co., focusing on fine jewelry and royal commissions.
This set likely retailed for several thousand dollars when it was new in 1997, and the Asprey website no longer offers similar tea/coffee sets for sale. Recent sales of A&G sterling silver tea/coffee services at auction have brought prices ranging from $800 for a 3-piece set to $3,000 for a 5-piece set.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A modern British sterling silver four-piece tea and coffee set

Thanks re "antique", I was guessing it was older.
Before I offer for sale should I clean it? The set has a slight yellow patina.
Hi Julie,
If the yellow patina has been caused by this being in a smoky room for awhile, it may be difficult to clean that off.
It won't increase the value to have it cleaned but it won't decrease it either.
Thanks,
Delia
Note that for something to be called an "antique," it must be 100 years old or older ('vintage' is typically assigned to objects 50 years old or more).
