A cased marine chronometer with mahogany brass bound box with original lid and name plate , a silvered dial with the makers name , Heath & Co , New Eltham, London and numbered 27831 on the dial. The dial also has the inscription 'Hezzanith' which was the name given to Heath & Co's Premium range of Nautical instruments and was a guarantee of quality, they also were appointed to the Lords commissioners to the Admiralty. The mahogany Chronometer box is brass bound with flush carry handle and brass name plate. This was purchased by my aunt and uncle in May of 1978 from Art Resources for $1,200. Do not know if it still works. Inner and outer box included. No key to inner box. According to my aunt it is off of the S.S. Sacramento
outer box is 10" x 9" x 10" and the inner box is 7" x 6.5" x 7"
