Oil on board , it has a couple small spots of flaking, cracking and in need of cleaning. I plan on bringing this in to a local framing store. I don’t know anything about this other than it’s original. I bought it on marketplace

Hello, this item is a mid 20th century oil on board harbor scene, executed in an expressive, loosely Impressionist style with strong color contrasts and gestural brushwork. The composition, with sailing vessels that resemble Asian junks, suggests either a decorative interpretation of East Asian maritime subjects or a Western artist working from secondary visual references rather than direct observation. The surface shows age-related craquelure and minor flaking, consistent with the client’s description, and the work would benefit from a light professional cleaning. The signature is present but not clearly legible or attributable to a known listed artist based on the images, which limits its market classification. The framing is modern and does not add significant value.
From a market perspective, decorative oil on board harbor scenes of this type, when the artist is unidentified, trade primarily on visual appeal rather than authorship. Comparable works of similar size and condition typically sell between $150 and $400 USD in secondary markets. Given the color vibrancy and subject matter, this example sits in the mid range. A fair market value is $200 to $350 USD.
