Appears to be in very good unrestored condition complete with bayonet
Unknown, I acquired in around 2003 from my Grandfathers private collection, he was a life long gun collector/ restorer.
Dear DeAngelo,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The presented object appears to be a Harpers Ferry 1849 cap and ball black powder 5/8" bore rifle with bayonet. The rifle has a percussion system lock and is stamped with the US Eagle stamped on the side, the producer, and the year 1849.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 700 to 1400 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
Georg
