Canvas is 24"x30"
I acquired this painting from my friend's mother. It belonged to her stepfather who was a pilot in WWII and was very wealthy. All of the other paintings she owned had quit the provenance, unlike this one which she gave me only because I found it so interesting. The only information I have is that it was hidden away at all times, unlike the majority of thier art work. I know he owned it from at least the early 80's because of the location in FL where they had a lot of art work reframed. I was told it could have been in his posession as early as the 50's-60's, but of course that is just speculation. I wish I had more information to provide, but there isn't even an artists signature or any documentation.
This is a vintage, later 20th century original painting. The work features vignette scene of Adolf Hitler with the motto, Ein Volk, Ein Fuehrer, or A People, A Leader. It is rendered in a illustrative manner that was typical of propaganda posters from prior and during WWII. It is done in a limited sepia palette. The Fredrix art board used is American and dates to after World War II. Being unsigned, it was possibly by a student or hobbyist painter, nor is this the original illustration for a published poster. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
Yes, sorry for not clarifying earlier.
Thanks
Thank you for the additional information
Thank you!
You are very welcome
Was the previous owner, who was a WWII pilot, an American military member?
