What does this mean?

Dear Kimberley Marida,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.

The appraised items are four large oil paintings from the end of the 19th century. They are signed by the name "Hovarth" and depict each of them four wooded landscapes. Some signs of wear and tear are visible on each work, especially in the second painting.

Unfortunately, after searching the signature I am sorry to say that I was unable to find any similar artist's signature in our records. It seems to me that the paintings that you own have been executed by an obscure artist.

Therefore, this is reflected in the estimate in red that appears above. The subject work’s size and composition were also taken into consideration when determining these figures. Please note that the estimate is per work only.

Best regards,

Karine
