Decent condition. Lithographs on almost like big journals, says 1844 by C Kellogg and W Brown
About a foot in length and height
Hi Chapman,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
These two lithographs were done by Elijah C. Kellogg (American, 1811–1881) After silhouettes of Daniel Webster and John Tyler made by William Brown (American, 1808–1882), for Brown's 1845 portfolio "Portrait Gallery of Distinguished American Citizens": which included 28 persons, of which both Webster and Tyler were included. Both are lithographed with tint stone on paper.
The complete set of Kellogg lithographs can sell for several hundred to a few thousand when sold at auction but individual prints usually sell for comparatively nominal sums, usually not more than $100 each at auction. These look like they are glue/pasted (referred to as 'laid down'), which is a condition that diminishes their value.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
"Daniel Webster" and "John Tyler"
By Elijah C. Kellogg (American, 1811–1881) After William Brown (American, 1808–1882)
stone lithograph silhouettes
each about 12 inches tall
