Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
It is a charming doll. Such antique dolls are being offered at auction on a regular basis. The doll is made by German manufacturer Simon & Halbig and has the model number 1079. It has a lovely face and appears to be in good condition despite the head being detached to the body. The body is made of composition, wood and papermache. The appraisal depends on the head being in good condition without chips, cracks or hairlines.
The red mark on the back of the head may be the shop selling the dolls brand or it may be an import/export mark.
I believe that the doll would attract the attention of both collectors and dealers if it came up for auction.
The estimate provided is for a well-advertised specialised online toys auction, where I believe the charming doll has the best chance of realising its fullest potential. However, there is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to the Simon & Halbig doll. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions. I’m happy to help.
Thank you
