Apparently it's from Hammer galleries and it has a registration number. Would you be able to see in the attached picture. It's by Pepe Romero. Apparently. It is in very good condition as far as I can tell. But I really am not an art connoisseur so I hope you can tell from the photos.

Hello, this item is an oil on board or canvas painting attributed to Pepe Romero, dated 1958, executed in a highly expressive, impasto-driven style that leans more toward mid-century abstract expressionism than strict Impressionism. The surface shows thick palette knife application, with layered, gestural strokes and strong chromatic contrasts in reds, yellows, greens, and blues. The signature visible on the lower edge appears to read “Pepe Romero 58,” which aligns with the claimed date, though the attribution requires caution. The label from Hammer Galleries in New York suggests it may have passed through a secondary retail or framing context rather than representing primary gallery representation. There is no immediate evidence that links this work to a widely recognized, auction-recorded artist of that exact name, which significantly impacts market positioning. The overall execution suggests a decorative or semi-professional studio work rather than a documented, catalogued artist with established institutional presence.
From a market perspective, works of this type, even when mid-century in date, trade primarily within the decorative art market unless firm attribution to a listed artist can be proven. The strong visual appeal and texture support saleability, but the lack of verifiable provenance or exhibition history limits value. Comparable works by unidentified or regionally active painters from the 1950s typically sell in modest ranges. The fair market value is approximately $150 to $400 USD.
