Approximately 180mm high x 200mm wide x 1500grams. Advised by original owner to be 350 years old. We have travelled India extensively, imported many containers of stone and furniture from India and know all too well the skill of the Indian craftsman to replicate anything. However, this is the first time I have seen anything like this peice. Looks old and very heavy.
Only advised purchased from India many years ago by avid collector.
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a deccan ware tripod, with stylised elephant handles, densely incised with foliage, flowers and Arabesques. The tripod has a good Patina, but hardly any traces of wear or polishing, I would therefore see the production date rather in the late 19th to early 20th century. Metalcraft from India is offered at auction on a regular Basis, the estimate is based on similar items sold at auction. "Asking Prices" in the trade can be higher and vary.
