Excellent condition and it’s made out of iron. I do not know the artist?

Hi Nilsa,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
This cast iron fireplace cover - comprised of an insert and surround - depicts the goddess Diana the Huntress (the Roman equivalent to the Greek goddess Artemis); I can't find any comparable models upon which to base an attribution but this was made in the late 19th Century during the Classical and Renaissance Revival periods.
When other cast bronze fireplace surrounds of similar size, vintage and decoration have sold in recent auctions, they usually bring prices ranging from $800-1,200.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
An antique Revival cast iron fireplace cover
American or European, late 19th Century
Comprised of a molded surrounded with relief cast stylized foliage issuing from vessels in either lower corner, centering a panel depicting the goddess Diana the Huntress with a stag, in a stylized forest.
30 by 30 inches
CONDITION: This appears to be in good condition
PROVENANCE: Inherited
$ 800-1,200*
